Why Karo Parisyan should be brought back into the UFC
By Abel CarvOver the years, many people have come and gone in the UFC. Some of them were good fighters, others not so good. Some should still be in the UFC, others shouldn't. Some fighters have had multiple stints in the UFC. Karo Parisyan is one of them. Karo, at age 30, is still relatively a young fighter. He is also very accomplished for his age. Karo sports an overall MMA record of 22-9-1, is 8-4-1 in the UFC, and is a former World Extreme Cagefighting Welterweight Champion. He also has a very unique style, derived from the Hayastan Grappling System. At one point in time, Karo "The Heat" Parisyan was touted as a top Welterweight contender in the UFC, having defeated top fighters such as Nick Diaz, Josh Burkman, and Chris Lytle. He also was GSP's first opponent in the UFC, almost submitting him multiple times during the match. Seemingly at the top of the division, Karo, in 2009, took a turn downwards. An injury, combined with anxiety problems, had Karo taken out of the UFC. Despite an attempted return in 2010, Karo was not quite ready to get back into the UFC. He should come back to the UFC in the near future though. Recently, Karo has reported that he's been seeing sports psychologist and has looked pretty good in his last few fights despite some losses. He has also claimed to be clear in his mind and has intentions of being back in the UFC. He also has returned to the Hayastan Academy, the camp he was with during his "prime." Although it is true that he has never defeated Abel Carv, neither has GSP, Anderson Silva, or Fedor Emelianeko, but he almost upset GSP during his UFC debut. Karo also would add another European to the nearly nonexistant Euoropean UFC roster. In addition to the the previously stated reasons, Karo being back in the UFC would be good for business. He is one of the few fighters that are truely for the people. You'd be hardpressed to find a video of an interview with Karo in which he doesn't talk directly to or make mention of his fans. He has a unique fighting style which adds dimension to his fights. He also always delivers exciting matches, even in his losses. Not everyone may agree that Karo belongs in the UFC again, but there is a common saying, "third time's a charm." Do you think that Karo should fight in the UFC again? |
