Silva Vs Weidman II, a Repeat?By: "The Shaman of Sexxxy" Abel J. G. "Auggie" CarvIt's official! MMA fans everywhere will get to see if Anderson Silva can beat Chris Weidman. Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Silva will get a chance to reclaim his Middleweight Championship on a card co-Main Evented by Rousey vs Tate; UFC 168. There first battle against each other occurred at UFC 162, where Weidman knocked Silva out at 1:18 in the 2nd round, taking Silva's Middleweight title in the process. While Weidman won decisively, whether he should have is under scrutiny. Silva taunted and toyed with Weidman throughout the first round and into the second round, but, unlike many of Silva's opponents in the past, Weidman retained his composure and took the unnecessary opportunities he was given. Weidman not only took Silva's title, but he is the first person in Silva's 36 fight professional career to knock him out (the other losses being two by submission, one by decision, and one by disqualification). Silva's loss to Weidman is criticized because it leaves open the question, "could Weidman have beaten Silva if Silva wasn't playing around?". We will never know the real answer, but this rematch may shed some light on it. There is also speculation that Silva threw the fight, amidst leaks of several high wagered bets on Silva's loss occurring. Regardless, their first meeting left much to be wanted. This second fight, may or may not go differently. Silva has said that he's "back" and that he is going to win, but he's also said that showboating is part of the show and he will continue to do so. Will UFC 162 be dejavu for Silva? Will Silva take his title back? Give your feedback in the forum below. |
