By: "The
Shaman of Sexxxy" Abel Carv
This article is the second edition of our monthly
series featuring an exceptional photographer or model. This month’s feature,
Jaymie Dauterman aka JaymieAymie, is not only both a model and photographer, but
a poet and actress as well.
Standing 5ft 3in tall, this
fashion/glamour/Pin Up/ swim suit model is making an impression on the industry
fast.
When asked about how she got into her arts, Jaymie replied, “I have been interested in Photography practically my whole life. When I was younger my Great Grandfather was a well known local photographer and at one point in time had owned his own studio. I loved the pictures he would take and spent a majority of my time as a kid hanging out in his at home dark room, even though I technically wasn't allowed to be in there, I just loved looking over his pictures and the equipment he used and the process of how they developed photos back then. Poetry I've been doing for as long as I can remember. I can't really say what got me interested in it because it just kind of happened. With acting, I just kind of forced myself to get into it. I had seen a casting call for a local film in need of actors and decided to apply. I had only ever taken a few improv and drama classes in high school so I was very surprised when I received an actual part rather than being an extra like I was expecting. Throughout the filming process though I've grown to love it and now have every intention of pursuing it even more. The funny thing about modeling is I had never had any interest in it. I was working as an apprentice for a local photographer and during a shoot only one model showed up and I just got thrown into it. I modeled a little here and there after that to help some of my photographer friends build portfolios but it wasn't up until a year ago when my friend Amanda Ewan contacted me about a promotional event when I really started to pursue it more and now I just love it. It's almost like an addiction lol.”
With her Great Grandfather as her photography idol and Cameron Diaz as her actress idol, Jaymie is becoming a staple to the Eastern Washington/North Idaho modeling scene. When asked about her favorite photographer to work with, Jaymie said, “Samantha Fluegal of Abracadabra Artistic Photography because she was the first photographer I ever modeled and worked with and I always have fun when shooting with her. She just has a way of getting some of the best pictures without you even realizing she’s taking them.” She also elaborated on her favorite model’s to work with, “Nicole Jacobs and Amanda Cheri, I always have a great shoot when modeling with them.”
Jaymie has had both ups and downs in modeling. “Back in 2011 when I got thrown into a shoot due to lack of models. It turned out to be really fun and half the time I didn't even realize my picture was being taken, said Jaymie when asked about her best modeling memory. She went on to explain her worst experience in modeling, “I had this one shoot with a photographer in the Idaho area. It was very unorganized and there wasn't a lot of communication between the photographer, the makeup artist and I about what style of clothing to wear and how the make up was supposed to be done. However the worst part was probably the drive getting to the location due to a sudden blizzard that came out of nowhere. What is normally a 25 minute drive for me turned into a 2 hour drive that day.”
Jaymie is not only skilled, but wise as well. She has the following advice for new models, “Start with facebook, join local modeling groups and do your research before scheduling a shoot with anyone. Make a fan page to help promote yourself more and just do what you can to get your name out there. Make sure you make your boundaries known upfront and just be respectful of others in the industry. Don't allow yourself to get a huge ego cause that's one thing that could really hurt you in the long run.” Truly Jaymie is destined for great things.
