May co-Featured Model: Sage Peterson
May's second co-Model of the month is Wyoming's own Sage Peterson. Like many ladies, Sage wanted to be a model since she was very young, but she acted on her dream, "I wanted to become a model as a young girl, and you know almost every
little girl wanted to look like one of these models, to be pretty, and
pampered, looking at all the models in magazines, TV, posters, I would always
think that is the life! But one thing that I thought was stopping me from
becoming one of these models was my weight, getting bullied throughout school
was tough. So I had enough and wanted to change for the better and wanted to
prove to people if you put your mind to something you can do it!." She turned her want into a reality quickly, "The process I did to
get into modeling was a couple things, first I wanted to be sure I was
comfortable in my skin to be able to do modeling, and be happy about how I
look, then when I was about 19 a modeling agency came through Casper and I
really just wanted to try it out and see if I could possibly do more in the
future, I was just nervous thinking I wasn't good enough from my past. My
sister came from Colorado to support me and help me through it all. They had
about 350 people from all ages there. They interviewed everyone, asked us to do
some lines for cover girl, then they made the cut to 50 people and I was one of
them and I thought that was great! Then they made the finale cut down to the
top 15 and I was in that! I did my first photo-shoot shortly after and I loved
it! I did a couple little runways down in Colorado and a wedding shoot from the
same company. Now I am apart of the Emerald girls of Wyoming and I love it! You
just have to believe in yourself!"
Sage has very stereotypical goals, but she is very realistic with them, "I know one of my goals for being a model is a lot like every other model, and that is to be one of the Victoria Secret models!! A pretty high goal there but that would be amazing! One of my most important goal is to give all the kids and teenagers that get bullied in school, hope. To let them know it only gets better in life, and if you push yourself you can do whatever you want! Another goal of mine would be getting known for modeling and being a model for a big industry. " She also demonstrates wisdom and knowledge based on her experiences, "Since being in modeling my views and ideas where a little different when I wasn't modeling. To be any model I thought you had to be extremely skinny and really tall just like the Victoria secret models. I am very tall but I am not skin and bones like some of the VS models, after working hard I think I am just about at the right size for my height :) I thought you would have to be really tall or really really skinny to be any type of model but that's not true. You can be 5'6" and still make it far. I think a lot of people in the world think the same as I did before I started modeling. There are a lot of different modeling people can get into without reaching those requirements which is awesome! "
Sage also has awesome goals for her legacy, "What I hope my legacy in the modeling industry would be of course being known for giving bullied kids in school some push to make their dreams come true! I also really like diesel trucks and I think it would be very exciting to somehow be a model for something like that involves diesels. I am just happy to be apart of modeling and remind people to smile and do your best! " She concluded with some great advice for new models, " Some advice I would give to new models is, work hard, be yourself, try as many different shoots as you can to find your strengths and weaknesses in modeling. Also look at different magazines, find poses you like and practice them in a mirror. Talk to other models that have been modeling for a while now and take notes from them. But to have fun, be creative, but take photo-shoots seriously and be the awesome model you dream about being! I still do all of these because I am still learning as well. "
