March Featured Model: Nicole Jacobs
March's Model of the Month is the third in our Model of the Month Series and the First that won via poll. This month's is the very deserving Nicole Jacobs. When asked about her want to be a model, she replied, "
I have always wanted to be a model. For the longest
time I have been asked," have you ever thought about being a model??"
The truth is I always really wanted it but I did not believe in myself. Until now. I started out in modeling with
the intensions of helping my friends build their own profiles. Looking back now at that time I was
unintentionally building my own portfolio but more importantly I was building
my desire, skills and confidence to model." "Growing up I have always loved Twiggy. She had
such an original look. No one else can be mistaken for Twiggy. I also admire
Tyra banks Because she is not only and an amazing model but she is a good
hearted person. The model that inspires me the most, who I would aspire to be
like would be most like would have to be Brigitte Borgot. She is a model as
well as a famous animal activist. To me she modeled not to make money and not
to feed her ego but to save lives and to change the world, and that, in my
opinion is the most beautiful thing ever." she stated when elaborating on her modeling idols.
Nicole is a very well liked model in the Eastern Washington/ North Idaho area. She is very diverse in her portfolio. When asked about her genres of modeling, she elaborated, "The types of modeling that I prefer would be Glamour and Editorial modeling. Editorial is a great step onto high-fashion which would be my dream. I like glamour because it doesn't have stiff physical requirements and I believe it celebrates how every woman is beautiful. " Nicole definitely has a plan and understanding of her wanted forte.
"Samantha Fluegal with Abracadabra photography would have to be my favorite photographer and to work with. She was also the first photographer I have ever worked with. With her it was fun and she has made me feel really comfortable. " Nicole said when asked about her favorite photographer. She has also had some quite fun shoots. "I think my best experience would have to be the first time I was at a group shoot with multiple photographers and multiple models. We were at a beautiful location. It was so cold; I lost feeling in my feet and my fingers but I was still so happy to be there. I left that shoot feeling like I was on top of the world. My world. Things aren't all fun or as expected though. Nicole has also had some negative experiences, " My worst experience was my first photo shoot with a make up artist. Sounds pretty cool right? That's exactly what I thought but the whole thing was so unorganized. Another model as well as myself were given 30 minutes total for both of us to have a full face of makeup from the same make up artist. Neither I, the other model nor the make up artist really had a clear idea of what the photographer wanted. It was a free shoot so I can't complain really, just out of all of my experiences that was the most stressful for me. In the end they are all learning experiences and I think that's the best way to look at it. "
Nicole is full of wise-words, and has some advice for new models as well, "My advice for new models is always believe in yourself. Don't compare yourself to other models. It is a waste of your time and your energy. Just focus on you and being the best version of you. You are the best at being you, no one can do it like you can; and that is powerful. Try not to get discouraged if you are not chosen or the favorite. Everyone is looking for something different. To quote Dita Von Teese "You could be the ripest juiciest peach in the world and there's still going to be someone who hates peaches.""
